ISTANBUL-The Turkish government banned early celebrations of the traditional Nevruz holiday in several cities. The official holiday is on March 21. However, celebrations are also held prior to the actual day. Predictably, demonstrations against the ban were held. Kurds clashed with police. Haci Zengin, a Peace and Democracy Party (BDP) chair from Istanbul was killed by police in the city.
